I am writing to thank Tech Sgt. Sclager for the most honorable service for our late father.  We so appreciate your music talent with the trumpet for coming early and practicing with our organist at McManen Church and for the most beautiful music we could have imagined.  Your respect and true compassion for our family and friends will be never forgotten.  The folding of the flag and presentation was also so well performed.  Thank you so much again for such a lovely and memorable service and please forgive my tardiness in sending this Thank You as we were healing from our loss.
Thank you again and we hope we see you again.

Fantastic news!  We have just received more FREE seating for the USMC Evening Parade at 8th and I SE on May 18th.

These new seats will be behind the Cannons but they have a great view.

You do not need tickets but Tom Day and I must escort everyone in as a group.

There is parking available at Maritime Plaza, 1201 M Street, S.E. Washington DC 20003. Shuttles will start taking people over at 7:00pm. If you do this option, please try to be on the first shuttle.  Remember to plan for rush hour traffic.

Alternatively, riding the Metro is an option. The closest station to the parade is the Eastern Market Metro Station (Both Orange and Blue lines). It is 3 long city blocks away from the Barracks but a walk-able distance.

The parade location is at: USMC Marine Barracks, 8th Street and I Street, SE, Washington, DC 20390

You must be at our meeting point at 7:00 pm so we can get organized. This is at Main Gate 4 South.

After 7:45 pm any seats left are no longer reserved for...

We are grateful to the bugler that drove from Lufkin, Texas, to play for Allwyn Wilmoth's burial service, which took place at the beautiful national cemetery in Dallas, among bluebonnets and tornado sirens. We were impressed and comforted by the bugler's talent, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you for this fine organization.

Saturday night April 7th,  BAA member Arturo Sandoval picked up his trumpet and joined the Chicago Jazz Orchestra at Northwestern University's Pick-Singer Hall in Evanston, Illinois. The Chicago Tribune called Arturo's performance great. Well the paper said, " Whether firing volleys into the stratosphere or unspooling long, luscious lines, trumpeter Sandoval tends to dominate any room he's in.

I can just imagine how he would be at a funeral....

About three years ago we had a Michigan request just north of South Bend and the mission was taken by Patrick Hession who played on his Monette trumpet. Another place where you would want to hear Taps done.

Well just some brass observations.

Anyhow BAA will be back at Northwestern U. on the 21st of April to present Medals to Cadets with the Navy ROTC.

Greeting all. I know it's a lot to ask, but if you could help spread the word about support the two Taps 150 events, we'd appreciate it.  These two events (especially the Berkeley commemoration) costs money and we need your help and support!

I am looking for as many of our horn players in the Chicago area to march in the front of the Chicago Memorial Day Parade on State Street, which is 9 blocks, carry horns and sound Taps a couple of times in the parade. Also The Chicago Loop Alliance has offered us a free float. So I will need Horn players to ride on the float with horns and friends to hold 3 flags so TV and people can see them. The BAA flag, the Taps 150 flag, and the BAA designed "Gold Star Mothers" flag.  This done on both sides of the float.  Parade covered by ABC  TV and others on the route for Nightly news.
The parade is May 26th at noon but we will meet earlier at 10am for staging.  To volunteer, please call Tom Day at 708-484-9029 or email him at
