On July 14th the USS Little Rock Association, as a part of its 21st annual Reunion in Wilmington. NC, held a Memorial Service for our deceased shipmates. As a part of this service we sought out, through your organization, Bugler Lance Smith.

Mr. Smith was excellent and he was a significant addition to the proceedings. We were moved by his rendition of Taps.

We are indebted to Lance Smith, and to Bugles Across America, for helping to make our Memorial Service meaningful, military and memorable.

As a token of our appreciation we are pleased to enclose our check for an honorarium.

With thanks and best wishes,
Frank E. Berglas
Secretary/ Treasurer
USS Little Rock Association.

During the first part of July I was at the Elks National Convention in Austin, Texas.  Mr. Dave Boostrom  came over on two mornings and we did a joint playing of "To The Colors" to open the days events.  Dave is a great player and has a collection of trumpets. Dave taught me a few things about playing and we had a great time. I have in the past had several foundations that were yearly contributors to BAA. This year only a couple of them were able to help. Fortunately I had saved a good amount we collected last year. This has enabled BAA to do much of what many took advantage of during the 150th Anniversary of Taps.  I have one more outing that will take place in Chicago on Sept. 29th and 30th. The first player of Taps O.W. Norton passed away about this time in 1920. We will present a wreath at the Cemetery and sound Taps which I don't think he ever got. I think its only right that the first player should have something special. Jari has already agreed to come as well. Speaking of funds and the constant need...

Just wanted to share BAA's Richard Yndestad's interview with local TV station NTV17 for the 150th Anniversary of Taps.
